Data Warehouse Management and Reporting |
| |
| Overview |
- The client’s information technology group had created a policy/ premium data warehouse to meet the business intelligence needs of one segment of the business community.
- The claims business intelligence requirements were not addressed and claims data was resident in competing data repositories.
- This created competing analytical silos which were not balanced to the data creation systems or the new data warehouse.

Our Approach |
- Working with the claims analytical group, identified the need to use one data warehouse.
- Worked with the information technology group to design the course of action to address the data needs of the claims organization by populating the new data warehouse.
- Established a guideline that no initiative should take longer than six calendar months.
- Defined the tools to be used by the claims analytical group and how data would be accessed. Cognos ReportNet was recommended as the primary tool however, in certain circumstances it was recognized that other desktop business intelligence tools were a more appropriate choice.

Outcome |
- Enterprise data warehousing environment will allow one version of the truth that all analytical groups will access.
- This has positioned our client to start on a business intelligence maturity path which enable an eventual standard business intelligence architecture and tools.
